Being Unashamed

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. -Romans 1:16 ESV

Today, I wanted to do something a little different. After hearing a song by Worth Dying For (who is an awesome band and you should really check them out),  I was reminded what being unashamed truly is. It isn’t about just reading your word each day while your sipping your glass of tea. It isn’t just praying before you eat or sleep. It isn’t about just believing in God, it’s about living a life for Christ and living out God’s commandments.

Now you might say that all that I wrote up there is apart of being a Christian, and I will totally agree with you one hundred percent. We are supposed to be reading our Bible each day and we should be praying and talking to God throughout the day. But what I am saying here is that there is so much more than just that. There is loving as Christ did, serving as Christ did, doing all things like Christ. That is the whole point of being a Christ, is to be just like Jesus, even though we can’t ever possibly reach that completely, it still satisfies God that you want to do what is good and just.

The Bible tells us so many times how we can live Unashamed. 2 Timothy 2:15 states, “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.” And I personally love this verse because if we present ourselves to God as approved, there’s no need to be ashamed over foolish things of this world. As long as we are following Christ and His ways, there is no need to be ashamed of anything. God will protect us, regardless the circumstance. If anyone speaks against us, we have the power to let it make us ashamed of His word, or we can use it as motivation.

Being unashamed isn’t always easy, in fact, it maybe very hard for you in the world we live in today, and God understands that. But that still doesn’t change the fact that we all have a choice, to live unashamed like Christ did when He came down in flesh, or to run away from it all. Lets choose to live the unashamed life, the one God had prepared for us and walk boldly to the promise land, run this race with endurance. I promise, you won’t regret it.
